Head of Social Media
We’re working with a rapidly scaling consumer brand and they’re recruiting a Head of Social Media to lead and unify social strategy, content production and community growth. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role focused on building a best-in-class social function that delivers creative storytelling, commercial impact and deep audience connection across platforms.
About the role
The Head of Social, Content & Community will set the strategic direction and own delivery across organic and community-led activity, content operations and creator partnerships. You’ll lead a small cross-functional team, define the content and community roadmap, and work closely with Brand, Product, Performance and Commercial teams to ensure social activity drives awareness, acquisition and retention.
What you’ll be doing:
Developing and owning the social and content strategy across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn and other relevant channels setting channel-specific goals, creative frameworks and KPIs
Building and managing a high-performing team of social producers, content creators and community managers; providing coaching, hiring and performance oversight
Leading end-to-end content operations setting the content calendar, briefing internal and external creators, overseeing shoots and post-production workflows to ensure timely, on-brand output
Overseeing community strategy and moderation guidelines shaping tone of voice, escalation processes and proactive engagement programmes to nurture advocacy and loyalty
Managing creator and influencer programmes including strategy, partner selection, negotiation, contracts and measurement of impact; owning a creator budget and ensuring strong ROI
Embedding an insight-led approach: establishing reporting and dashboards, defining relevant KPIs, running systematic tests and using results to refine creative and community tactics
Collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Brand, CRM and Commercial teams to activate launches, drive community-led product feedback and align social activity with commercial priorities
Designing and scaling community programmes (e.g., ambassador schemes, UGC activations, events and live experiences) to deepen engagement and lifetime value
Ensuring governance and compliance across social channels including moderation policies, brand safety, data protection and FTC/ASA rules for influencer activity
About You
You’re a strategic, creative leader with proven experience building and scaling social, content and community teams for consumer brands or agency clients. You combine excellent creative judgement with commercial rigour and enjoy turning audience insight into compelling creative work that drives measurable business outcomes.
Essential experience and skills:
Proven senior experience running social and community for a consumer or DTC brand, agency or in-house team with demonstrable results across Instagram, TikTok and long-form platforms
Track record of building and leading small multidisciplinary teams including content producers, community managers and creator leads
Strong creative capability in short-form and long-form video ideation, production oversight and optimisation
Hands-on experience of community management and building moderation frameworks at scale
Experience briefing and managing creators and influencers, contracting partners and managing paid creator budgets
Analytical mindset with experience using platform analytics, A/B testing and reporting to drive performance improvements
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with experience influencing cross-functional senior stakeholders
Desirable:
Experience in beauty, personal care or lifestyle DTC brands
Familiarity with content creation and editing tools (e.g., CapCut, Premiere, Canva) and social scheduling/analytics platforms
Experience designing ambassador, UGC or creator-led commerce programmes
