Senior People Manager
London, High Growth Business, Four days on site, Friday WFH, Salary up to £80,000 DOE
Location: London
Hybrid: 1 day per week WFH
Salary: £60k - £80k DOE
We are seeking an experienced Senior People Manager to join a growing, founder-led consumer business at an important stage of its development. This is an opportunity to shape a pragmatic, people-centred HR function that supports sustainable growth, high performance and a culture rooted in respect, inclusivity and development.
About the role
Reporting to senior leadership, you will lead people operations, talent and organisational development across the business. You will design and deliver systems, processes and programmes that enable managers and teams to do their best work while ensuring compliance, fairness and consistency. This is a hands-on, strategic position where operational delivery and people-centred leadership are equally valued.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Own day-to-day people operations: HR policies, onboarding, offboarding and employee records management.
Design and deliver performance management and career development frameworks that drive clarity, growth and retention.
Lead learning and development initiatives, including manager training, coaching and cross-functional development programmes.
Advise on employee relations with a pragmatic, evidence-based approach - investigations, mediation and resolution where required.
Partner with leadership team to maintain compliance with employment law and support safe, auditable people practices.
Help shape culture and engagement activities, including surveys, action plans and regular employee communications.
Build scalable HR processes and metrics to give leadership clarity on turnover, engagement, hiring velocity and diversity.
About you
This role suits an operator who has built and scaled HR practices in a fast-growing consumer or founder-led business. You are comfortable balancing strategic thinking with reliable day-to-day delivery and can influence senior stakeholders with commercial literacy and empathy.
You will be:
Experienced in full-cycle HR delivery, with demonstrable impact across recruitment, performance, development and employee relations.
Commercially literate and comfortable discussing headcount planning, people costs and the people levers that drive retention and productivity.
A strong communicator and coach who can support managers to lead teams effectively and consistently.
Data-informed: able to establish simple, meaningful people metrics and use them to influence decision-making.
Legally and procedurally confident with UK employment law and best-practice HR policies.
Committed to building an inclusive workplace and able to apply equitable practices across hiring, progression and reward.
Experience in consumer, retail, hospitality, wellness or other founder-led businesses is advantageous but not essential. The role will suit someone who enjoys a mix of building systems and supporting people directly.
